Somehow I’ve gotten five whole months behind with blogs, eeek!!! So… happy Christmas, happy new year etc. etc.
When I haven’t been walking dogs around Whickham or at the beach I’ve been spending a lot of time on my Rose Filtered and LEAPUP Etsy shops. I’ve spent quite a bit of time before Christmas designing the menus for Jasper’s Coffee House in Keswick and displaying artwork for sale which has been very exciting! Trying to set up two new businesses has caused me to get a little bit behind with everything else in my life… ooops! I love being a dog walker , it’s the perfect job for me. However over the last couple of months I’ve reduced my number of doggies to give me a little bit more time – it was a difficult decision but the right decision to make as it means less dogs on each walk and a more manageable day for me and it feels great to have improved the balance between working in my studio and being outside in the fresh air.
Anyway with all this going on I’m sooo behind with pictures but here is a little look at what the doggies have been up to this March, they’ve been awesome as ever – 99% of the time 😉 – and we’ve been having far too much fun, with basic training and games and especially on our trips to the beach 🙂
A lovely week of walkies, some of my fave moments included Benni meeting a little shih tzu buddy called Bobby and little Molly getting well, about as dirty as a dog can get. It was also really great to finally have Jess out with the other dogs now that we’ve got her over her fear of the car too… overall a very good week and of course loving the autumn colours! ❤ ❤ ❤
Just a shout out for a great little product that I’ve never seen used before until last week when I was out walking at Causey Arch. It’s a ‘Bear Bell’ that your dog can wear which can help to alert prey that your dog is coming and also help locate your dog if they have a tendency to stray or prey into dense wooded or long grassy areas. Obviously not quite as effective or high tech as GPS but seems like a really great idea. The bell also includes a magnetic silencer for those times you don’t want it to be ringing away. Well worth a look – especially beagle owners!!!
I met a lady at Causey Arch whose dogs were both wearing them and they seemed like a very well made product and very good value for money… take a look here Just Dogs in Edinburgh is selling them for just £3.99 each which seems a bargain?!?!
If you do use them then drop me a line as would be great to hear if you think the product has helped you with your dog?
Very happy (and a little bit relieved) to have had some snow this week. It’s meant a chance for some cleaner walks for the doggies, and well, I just love the snow even more than they do (if that’s possible).
We didn’t use the car and had a few days of Whickham walkabout – picking up dogs along the way which they loved – popping by to pick up their pals.
It meant six hours out in the snow for me but happy to report that my snow boots did the job and my feet stayed snuggly warm – despite the freezing conditions 🙂
As you may have seen from the facebook update we had a few serious cases of snowballs! This eventually put an end to some of the doggies fun.
But overall just gorgeous – we loved it. I think I speak for all the doggies (maybe apart from little Oscar) when I say ‘more snow please’.
At last… after at least a solid week of rain, murk, gloom , mud and unseasonably mild weather, the sun eventually came out today. By the time of my third walk the sky was blue, the sun shining – it was just lovely.
I grew up right by the sea, a minutes walk from the beach and I miss it. I miss the happy memories I have of my first dog Poppy, when she was a pup and as she grew up. I miss the summer holidays, walking Poppy for a couple of miles down the long sandy beach to visit my Gran. I miss you Poppy, I miss you Gran. I think that’s why I like the beach so much, so many memories. No doubt we will be back to the beach very soon, it’s a very special place for me.
